That’s why we offer financial assistance and everything else to make your transition from military base to virtual campus as seamless and affordable as possible. Just one small way we can thank you for your service.

Books and Materials

A University book grant provides ebooks at no cost to all undergraduate students. A hard-copy textbook is provided at no cost if an ebook is not available. Some programs will have additional course material costs not covered by the University book grant. Simply select the course in your Academic Plan to review the required materials.

Please note that our Preferred Military Rate provides ebooks at no cost for master’s-level courses for active-duty servicemembers, National Guard members, Reservists, and military families, (parents, spouses, legal partners, siblings, and dependents).

Register for Classes
  • Select Register Now at the top of your ecampus to get started
  • Select your course and start date
  • Review the Attendance Requirement and Military TA Disclosure Policy
  • Verify your Contact Information
  • Select Tuition Assistance (TA) under the Military Payment Options as your payment method
  • Print your Registration Confirmation
Air Force Portal
The Air Force utilizes the online system for requesting Air Force tuition assistance through the use of the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) . You will apply for tuition assistance through the portal and it will be sent electronically to APUS for processing. TA must be requested at least one week prior to desired start date. Because bottom line: you’ve handled high altitudes in the Air Force, but you shouldn’t have to handle high tuition in college.
Funding Request
  • Log into the Air Force portal
  • Select “Start a Funding Request
  • Under “Funding Request Application” you will need to enter the following:
    • Base information
    • Educational Goal
    • School Information
      • Select Term Dates -Only school provided course dates that are within the 45-7 day request window will show
Course Information
  • Select Course Code to match APUS registration from the catalog
  • Enter Registration Fees: N/A
  • Select Credit Cost: $250 per semester/credit hour
  • Verify Supervisor Information
  • Review and Verify TA application
  • Submit Your Information
    • You must agree to all conditions to submit your application for approval
  • Once approved, your approval will come directly from your education office to our university, arriving usually within 2 business days of submission
  • We will e-mail you a confirmation when we receive the TA authorization

If you have received your approved TA from the Air Force, but have not received a confirmation of TA receipt from American Public University within 48 hours of approval, you may upload a copy of your Tuition Assistance Authorization securely through the document portal, using your ecampus login credentials.
